Team USA to play for gold medal at Pan Am Games

Caroline Dolehide and Usue Arconada will play for the women's doubles gold medal at the Pan American Games on Saturday in Lima, Peru. Dolehide has also reached the women's singles semifinals.

The 20-year-old Americans dispatched Chile's Alexa Guarachi and Daniela Seguel, 7-5, 6-3, on Friday to reach the final vs. Paraguay's Veronica Cepede-Royg and Montserrat Gonzalez.

Dolehide (pictured above), meanwhile, reached the women's singles semifinals by defeating Seguel, 7-5, 7-6 (2), and will next play Brazil's Carolina Alves. Arconada fell in her singles quarterfinal match to Argentina's Nadia Podoroska, 6-4, 6-4.

The women's singles semifinals are scheduled to start at 11 a.m. ET on Saturday, with the women's doubles final scheduled for 6 p.m. ET.

 

The last time Americans medaled in women's doubles at the Pan Am Games was in 2011, when Irina Falconi and Christina McHale earned the silver medal in Gudalajara. The last American women's doubles gold medalists were Pam Shriver and Donna Faber in 1991 in Havana.
