Collins, Keys, McNally complete U.S. Billie Jean King Cup team for April qualifying round

Victoria Chiesa | March 17, 2023

Danielle Collins, Madison Keys and Caty McNally will round out captain Kathy Rinaldi's U.S. Billie Jean King Cup team that will face Austria in April's qualifying round.

The trio will join Coco Gauff and Jessica Pegula, who were previously announced as committed to play, at the Delray Beach Tennis Center in Delray Beach, Fla. from April 14-15 looking to put the U.S. into the 2023 Billie Jean King Cup by Gainbridge Finals.

Tickets for the tie are on sale now via Ticketmaster, and are available for as low as $25 per day. Single- and two-day ticket packages are available.

Rinaldi's five-player roster boasts the four highest-ranked Americans in the WTA rankings, as well as a Top 20-doubles player in McNally. In addition to the U.S.'s pair of current Top 10 stars in Gauff and Pegula, former Grand Slam finalists Collins and Keys have also spent time in the world's Top 10. They've also been recent stalwarts for Rinaldi's team: This is Keys' eighth Billie Jean King Cup nomination in her career, while it's Collins' fourth. McNally, too, rounds out the squad as a returner, as she made her U.S. Billie Jean King Cup debut at last year's Finals in Glasgow, Scotland.

All five players on Rinaldi's 2023 Qualifier team competed in Billie Jean King Cup in 2022 as Gauff, too, was a member of the Finals squad alongside Collins, Keys, McNally and Taylor Townsend, while Pegula starred in last spring's Qualifier vs. Ukraine.

By ranking, the U.S. will be the favorites against an Austrian team comprised of world No. 93 Julia Grabher, No. 219 Sinja Kraus, No. 468 Barbara Haas, former Top 30 player and current No. 528 Tamira Paszek, and No. 912 Melanie Klaffner. The U.S. is 7-2 all-time against Austria in Billie Jean King Cup play dating back to the first meeting between the two countries in 1977, but they haven't played in 19 years. The Austrians won the last two meetings in 2002 and 2004.

The winning nations in the 2023 Qualifiers will advance to the 2023 Finals, a field which will be rounded out by either the hosts of the 2023 competition (if not already qualified, when the host venue is announced) or the highest-ranked loser of a qualifying tie.
