Forty-four Americans to compete in 2022 US Open main draw
Forty-four Americans (23 women and 21 men) are set to compete in the singles main draws of the 2022 US Open.
Aside from the 54 that competed in 2020, a year in which the field was impacted by COVID-19 travel restrictions, 44 is the most total since 47 competed in the 2002 US Open.
The 21 men mark the third consecutive year 20 or more American men have played in the main draw, the first stretch like that since 2001-03.
The 23 women mark the eighth consecutive year 20 or more American women have played in the main draw, the first stretch like that since 1998-2005.
Four American men are seeded, with Taylor Fritz leading the way at No. 10. Seven American women count among the Top 32, with No. 8 Jessica Pegula as the highest-seeded American.

In addition to direct entries and five male and five female wild cards, two U.S. men and two U.S. women earned their way in via three wins in qualifying: Christopher Eubanks, Catherine Harrison, Brandon Holt and Ashlyn Krueger.
