Full US Open Match Video: Serena vs. Venus Williams, 2018

With the current suspension of the ATP and WTA Tours, we are opening up our US Open vault to bring you full match videos of classic encounters through the years in New York.

Watch on YouTube: Serena vs. Venus Williams, 2018 US Open women's singles third round

Serena Williams missed the 2017 US Open as she gave birth to her daughter, Olympia, and returned to New York in 2018 with a chance to equal the all-time Grand Slam singles title record of 24.

If she wasn't already one of the title favorites—a notion she scoffed at pre-tournament—Serena certainly was after her performance against sister Venus Williams in the third round. Venus called it the best match her sister ever played against her. Serena labeled it her best match since her return to tennis earlier in 2018, which already included a run to the Wimbledon final.

That form carried her through to the championship match, her second consecutive Grand Slam final, with the loss of just one set (to unseeded Kaia Kanepi in the Round of 16) in six victories. But Serena ultimately fell just short of her goal, as Naomi Osaka claimed her first major title in dramatic fashion in Arthur Ashe Stadium.

Serena repeated her runs to both the Wimbledon and US Open finals in 2019, but her quest for singles Grand Slam No. 24 continues.

The complete third-round sisterly showdown, along with scores of other great content, is now available to watch on the USTA YouTube channel, or below.
