With the current suspension of the ATP and WTA Tours, we are opening up our US Open vault to bring you full match videos of classic encounters through the years in New York.

Watch on YouTube: Venus Williams vs. Chanda Rubin, 2004 US Open women's singles third round

In what was the last of their 10 WTA meetings, Venus Williams and Chanda Rubin met for the second time at the US Open in the 2004 third round. After Rubin took their first career match, in Amelia Island, Fla., in 1997, Williams reeled of wins in the next eight, including four at the Grand Slam level.

The No. 11 seed Williams extended that streak to nine with a straight-sets victory over No. 20 Rubin, finalizing their career head-to-head at 9-1.

In another all-American matchup, Williams was turned back in the Round of 16 by Lindsay Davenport, who later lost in the semifinals to eventual champion Svetlana Kuznetsova.

While the Williams-Rubin match was their second US Open singles meeting, the pair also squared off in the doubles play twice in New York. In the 1999 women's doubles final, Venus and Serena Williams defeated Rubin and Sandrine Testud in three sets. The Williams sisters came out on top in the same matchup again in the 2000 US Open quarterfinals,

The complete third-round singles showdown, along with scores of other great content, is now available to watch on the USTA YouTube channel, or below.
