With the current suspension of the ATP and WTA Tours, we are opening up our US Open vault to bring you full match videos of classic encounters through the years in New York.

Watch on YouTube: Venus Williams, 2002 US Open women's singles quarterfinals

Two-time defending US Open champion Venus Williams had never been eliminated before the semifinal stage in New York entering her fifth appearance at the tournament. A finalist in her 1997 debut, a semifinalist in '98 and champion in '99 and 2000, Williams entered this 2000 quarterfinal against Monica Seles with a 25-2 women's singles record at the US Open.

After topping Chanda Rubin in a three-set, fourth-round match (Rubin was the first player to take a set off Williams in the tournament), the No. 2 seed got back to business against No. 6 Seles with a straightforward, straight-sets victory.

She then went the distance again in the semifinals to get through Amelie Mauresmo, but fell short of a three-peat when sister Serena, the tournament's top seed, claimed the title. The final was a rematch of the championship match one year prior, when Venus won the sisterly showdown.

The complete final is now available to watch on the USTA YouTube channel. For a coming attraction, view the match highlights below.
