DAVIS CUP TIE
November 12, 2018
With more than 115 years of tradition, Davis Cup is the premier team competition in men’s professional tennis as well as the largest annual international team competition in the world. The USTA oversees the United States’ participation in Davis Cup, including the organization of home ties.
The most recent Davis Cup home tie on American soil was the 2018 World Group quarterfinal match against Belgium, played in April 2018. By virtue of reaching the semifinals in Croatia, the U.S. is assured of playing in the newly revamped finals round of the 2019 Davis Cup competition.
Team USA is assured of competing in the 12-team weeklong finals, set for Nov. 18-24, 2019, in La Caja Magica in Madrid, Spain. The four 2018 semifinalists will join two wildcard teams in addition to six other teams who qualify in February.
While Team USA will not play a home tie in 2019, there is the potential for a home tie in 2020, depending on the results of the 2019 competition. ADVERTISEMENT For prospective enquiries or more information, contact Director of Team Events Jeff Ryan here.
