"We are thrilled and honored to play an integral role in the first New York Open on Long Island," said Jenny Schnitzer, executive director and chief operating officer, USTA Eastern. “To build upon the national introduction of Net Generation at last year's U.S. Open, we are featuring Net Generation at the tournament to help connect more kids with local tennis programs across the Eastern section and inspire the next generation of players.”
On three mornings during the New York Open, ATP World Tour pros will be out on court – this time on the same side of the net and with the same goal – to encourage kids to go for that overhead slam or forehand slice! These clinic sessions are set for Saturday, Feb. 10, Sunday, Feb. 11, and Saturday, Feb. 17, from 8-10 a.m.
Four 36-foot long courts – sized just right for kids – will be set-up on the stadium court. Players will use shorter nets, racquets sized right and low-compression, red balls which will allow for easy play and immediate success. These sessions will feature players from local Long Island programs. 20 percent-off ticket promotion for USTA members using the promo code USTANYOPEN on NewYorkOpen.com
Tickets for youth groups to attend sessions after school
Net Generation branded phone card holder giveaway at the Friday, Feb. 16 Eastern Night to the first 5,000 ticket holders to enter the Coliseum
A special presentation that same evening which will honor USTA Eastern players, dedicated volunteers and Net Generation providers.
