Four Counties Secure Sectional Titles at Adult 18 & Over 3.5/5.0 Championships

Jaret Kappelman | August 22, 2022

The sound of feet on the courts, tennis balls hitting racquets, and laughter could be heard throughout the USTA National Campus this weekend as dozens of players gathered to compete in the Adult 18 & Over 3.5/5.0 Sectional Championships.

In the Women’s 3.5 division, Broward County defeated Orange County in the closest match of the weekend. It came down to the No. 1 Doubles line, where Broward came back down a set to win their second ever Sectional.

While in the Men’s 3.5, Brevard County put on a show. They swept the finals 5-0 against Marion County for their first-ever championship.

For the 5.0 division, Duval dominated in the Women’s draw, without dropping a match in their round-robin play. This secured consecutive Sectional Championships for the Jacksonville team.

Over in the Men’s division, Miami-Dade County pulled off a major upset. The South Florida squad defeated Hillsborough, who had won three of the last four sectionals.
