Stage is Set for 2023 Bobby Curtis Doubles Sectional Championships

Jaret Kappelman | August 17, 2023

Nothing says Florida Junior Tennis quite like Bobby Curits tournaments. The late Bobby Curtis did so much for junior tennis, creating a network for the youth to get together and compete with this great sport.

Earlier this year, USTA Florida held the singles championship, but now it’s time for the Bobby Curtis Doubles Sectional Championships. Taking place over two weekends, the best Florida youth tennis has to offer will gather at the USTA National Campus and battle it out in intense matches.

The 12s and 14s draw will take place on October 7 through 9, with the 16s and 18s being held the following weekend on October 14 through 18. There will be Boys’, Girls’, and Mixed draws taking place each week.

The format for the Boys’ and Girls’ event will follow best-of-three sets, with each set going to six games. The third set will be a 10-point tiebreaker, where you must win by two points. For Mixed play, it will be best-of-three sets, with each set going to 4 games. The final set will be a 7-point tiebreaker. All matches will have no AD scoring and will be played on Clay Courts.

Some of Florida’s best have come through and won this tournament and this year’s competition is expected to be better than ever. Registration is now open, so make sure you reserve you and your partner’s spot as space is filling up.
