Kohls named Western Slope League Coordinator

When long-time area league coordinator Kathy Elliott announced her retirement from her Western Slope position this past summer, USTA Colorado knew it had large shoes to fill.

"Kathy has been an amazing area coordinator for the Western Slope and has dedicated so much time and energy to providing the best league experience possible for all players in that area," says League Director Jason Rogers. "We sincerely appreciate Kathy’s efforts and will miss her contagious positivity." 

Executive Director Fritz Garger echoed those sentiments. "USTA Colorado and those on the Western Slope know how fortunate we’ve been to have Kathy head up the league program over the past decade. A truly remarkable person, Kathy brings not only her excitement and passion to the sport, but also exceptional administrative skills that have made our offerings in the region first-class. She cares about the players we serve and her professionalism in all aspects of our operations is second to none." 

USTA Colorado has now announced that Carla Kohls will step into the role.

"With Kathy’s retirement from the position, we are excited to introduce Carla as our new Western Slope Area League Coordinator.  Carla will be leading the vibrant USTA league programs in the Western Slope, taking over where Kathy left off."  

Kathy said, "I’m excited and confident that Carla will represent our Western Slope completely, with a lot of energy and with a great sense of humor.  Looking forward to her leadership and grateful she has accepted this job." 

Carla has loved organizing sports her whole life. She ran youth sports programs for the City of Provo, Utah. And while fairly new to tennis, she has so enjoyed the amazing, fun, and welcoming tennis community on the Western Slope. She notes, “there’s nothing better than being outdoors and being with fun friends.”  

Carla is an incredibly active individual, involved in activities ranging from trail runs, marathons and triathlons to backpacking, climbing, cross country skiing and Via Ferrata excursions (to name just a few).   

Carla will add the USTA Colorado Western Slope Area Coordinator position to her other work in home staging and volunteer role as board member at the tennis bubble. She is looking forward to serving the tennis community.
