Middle States

Full Circle Sarah Candeloro

November 27, 2019

High school tennis. Junior Team Tennis. College Tennis. Tournament Tennis.  As a player. As a coach.

Wherever she is, and in whatever role she’s playing, Sarah Candeloro leaves her mark.

Each year, Candeloro seems to become a more and more recognizable figure in the tennis community. A former standout at Delaware’s Caesar Rodney High School, she had an incredible college career at the University of Tennissee at Martin, putting together 157 wins and earning first team all-conference honors (she also managed a 3.95 grade point average, by the way).

These days, you can find Candeloro coaching the next wave of standouts. She led this year’s Delaware Nightmare Junior Team Tennis (JTT) team to a second-place finish at JTT Section Championships.

Those championships were only a few short weeks after she competed herself in the Middle States Open, one of the highest-level tournaments in the section.

So what keeps her going, both as a coach and a player?

“I love the game and the competition. I love the kids,” she said. “It’s really as simple as that.”
