Great Things Ahead For Sophia Sassoli
Sophia Sassoli won the PIAA State Team Championship with Harriton High School in 2018. And like most high school players, it was one of the highlights of her young career.
Still, there is plenty of tennis to come for Sassoli. Committed to play at Georgia Tech this fall, she has plenty to look forward to, both on and off the court.

“Winning a Gold Ball in doubles at National Clay Courts, with Rhea Shrivastava.”

Future career goals:
“As of right now, I don’t have a specific career path in mind, but I am interested in the data science field. I am planning to major in math in college, concentrating in probability and statistics, and perhaps tying it all together with a minor in computational data analysis.

Overall, I’m trying to give myself a strong foundation with skills in math and computer science. I’d also be interested in pursuing an MBA at some point.”
Favorite aspect of tennis:
“I think one of the best things about tennis is that you can make it your own: the way you approach the game and the game style you play is completely up to you. Competition is fun, and seeing your hard work pay off in competition is one of the most satisfying feelings.”
What tennis has taught you?
“Tennis has taught me discipline. The more I improve, the harder it is to keep achieving those increments of improvement. This has helped me understand that improvement really has to be self-driven—no one else can do it for you. Pushing yourself is a skill that must be learned, and it's extremely valuable to everything I work toward when applied in life.”
