A Consistent Commitment to Service

April 14, 2026

At just 14 years-old, Oliver Valentino has already demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to tennis and service through his involvement with the NJTL of Trenton and the broader tennis community. Introduced to the game at a young age, Valentino has grown into both a competitive tournament player and a dedicated mentor.

Valentino gives back as a junior coach, volunteering at youth tennis events and supporting community initiatives such as Princeton University’s Campus Kids Day and the Cryan Tournament.

He has also made a particularly meaningful impact through his volunteer work with Special Olympics New Jersey. As a Unified Partner at the 2025 Summer Games, he exemplified sportsmanship, inclusion, and leadership, earning the Spirit of Unified Tennis Award for his ability to foster camaraderie and equitable play among athletes of all abilities.

His passion for service extends beyond the court as well. He regularly volunteers with NJTL of Trenton initiatives and community efforts, including events benefiting the Trenton Area Soup Kitchen.

Balancing these commitments with strong academic performance and extensive extracurricular involvement, Valentino stands out as a young leader whose dedication to tennis and community service embodies the spirit of the USTA Middle States Junior Volunteer Award.

“This award really caught me by surprise, and I was so shocked and excited to hear about it,” said Valentino. “It really made me think about how much I am able to give back to the tennis community and that I am appreciated for it, which makes me really happy. I am really honored to gain this recognition and will always continue to both volunteer and give back to this wonderful tennis community.”
