May brings a full schedule of events and activities for USTA Northern Indiana, including National Tennis Month celebrations, league competition, junior tournaments and community gatherings across the district.

Community and District Events

Leeper Park Tennis Courts Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony

A ribbon-cutting ceremony for the A. David Filer V. Tennis Courts at Leeper Park has been rescheduled from May 7 to May 28 at 2 pm.

Organization Excellence Meeting

The USTA Midwest Section will host its Organization Excellence meeting May 12-13 in Indianapolis. Executive directors from all 13 Midwest districts will attend along with USTA National and Midwest staff members.

Northern Indiana Spring Meeting

The Northern Indiana Spring Meeting will take place May 17 at noon at Papa Vino’s Italian Kitchen in Mishawaka. RSVP by May 14.

National Tennis Month Celebration at South Bend Cubs Game

USTA Northern Indiana will celebrate National Tennis Month during the South Bend Cubs game against the Fort Wayne TinCaps on May 29 at Four Winds Field at Coveleski Stadium in South Bend.

The event will feature:

• Free racquets for the first 100 participants trying tennis for the first time
• Short courts inside the 1st Source Bank Performance Center from 5:30-8 p.m.
• Volunteer opportunities during the event
• Postgame fireworks following the Cubs game
  
   

Adult League Updates

Adult leagues in Fort Wayne and South Bend are registering players for summer competition, with some matches beginning in late May.

League divisions include:

• Adult 18 & Over
• Adult 40 & Over
• Adult 55 & Over
• Adult 65 & Over

District Mixed Doubles Championships

District Mixed Doubles competition will be held May 9 at Wildwood Racquet + Wellness Club in Fort Wayne. Matches between Fort Wayne and South Bend local champions begin at 3 pm ET.

Divisions include:

• Mixed 18 & Over: 6.0, 7.0 and 8.0
