Updated Statement on Play
As of 12/8/2020:
With the latest Emergency Order from the Michigan Department of Health & Human Services, all USTA Junior Team Tennis, adult and junior tournaments, and USTA adult and social league play remain suspended for the 12 day period of December 8 - December 20, 2020. We will be monitoring changes in directives from the State closely and will provide updated information as soon as we have it.
Even though USTA programming locally will be on pause, the current Emergency Order does not put an end to all tennis in Michigan and we encourage you to support our local tennis facilities during this time so you can continue to engage with our great sport. We appreciate your patience and look forward to reinstating USTA programming and play in the near future.
As of 11/19/20:
The Southeastern Michigan Tennis Association (SEMTA) places a high priority on player, staff, and provider safety and has been working hard to provide a diversity of play opportunities during the last several months. While SEMTA is confident that tennis is a safe activity, we are also incredibly sensitive to our public health officials’ recommendations in regard to activities, gathering, wearing of masks, etc. With the latest Emergency Order under MCL 333-2253 - Gatherings and Masks Orders coming from the State, we are suspending all Junior Team Tennis, adult and junior tournaments, and adult USTA and social league play for the 3 week period of November 18 - December 8, 2020. We will be monitoring changes in directives from the State closely and will provide updated information as soon as we have it.
Even though USTA programming locally will be on pause, the Emergency Order under MCL 333-2253 does not put an end to all tennis in Michigan and we encourage you to support our local tennis facilities during this time so you can continue to engage with our great sport.
