USTA Midwest announces new Board of Directors for 2025-2026
CEO of Baseline Tennis Jeff Stassen has been elected to lead USTA Midwest as its President beginning in January 2025, topping the new slate of Board of Directors that will serve for the 2025-2026 term. Stassen will assume the role from outgoing President Colin Atkinson, who served from 2023-2024.
Stassen's passion for tennis has always been deeply connected to the community. He has worked with Community Tennis Associations (CTAs), parks and recreation programs, and schools, and is a strong advocate for developing effective red and orange ball programs. He is passionate about growing the sport at every level, and since those early days, Stassen has grown even more driven about the direction of tennis in the Midwest.
"These lead focuses will help us expand our tennis-playing population and retain it in the Midwest from 2,786,000 to 3 million by the end of 2026 which is about a three percent growth," said Stassen.
Stassen is determined to grow the number of players in the Midwest through strong committees, project teams, task forces, presidential appointees and strengthened district relationships, all while preserving the quality of the Midwest's flagship competitive programs and maintaining the strength of the association’s governance.
"We will work to bolster CTA and NJTL programs, Junior Team Tennis (JTT) programs, entry-level coaching opportunities and beginner youth programs, and to be the gold standard in Junior Circuit and Level 7 tournaments. Through all of this, we will be aligned with USTA’s mission at the national level; we’ll prioritize players, coaches and facilities, and will work to invite our districts to join us in this vital effort. Together, we’ll grow and sustain our tennis community. Our players come from all walks of life, and since it’s the world’s healthiest sport, we’re committed to making tennis accessible and enjoyable for everyone."
Joining Stassen as officers on the 2025-2026 Board are Jennifer Reinbold of Central Indiana as Executive Vice President; Chuck Kuhle of Mid-South Illinois as Vice President; Steve Hayden of Ohio Valley as Vice President; Katie Orlando of Northeastern Ohio as Treasurer; Jorge Brioni of Chicago as Secretary; and Colin Atkinson of Central Indiana as USTA Delegate. Delegates-at-Large include Tiffany Squires of Central Indiana as Chair; Jeff Dvorak of Wisconsin; Ethel Parker of Northwestern Ohio; Donna Wilson of Chicago; Tim Ross of Southeastern Michigan; Craig Capelli of Southeastern Michigan; Susan Klumpner of Chicago; and Joe Tegtmeier of Wisconsin. The Nominating Committee includes Robin Henders of Northern Illinois as Chair; Lynn Armitage of Wisconsin; Steven Witte of Northern Michigan; Kat Hawkins of Central Indiana; and Colin Atkinson as Past President.
