D. Scott Frew Scholarship Winners 

We had a huge number of applications this year for the D. Scott Frew Scholarship. Not only were the number of applications great, but so were all the applicants which made a very difficult decision for the Awards Committee.

 

The following two young adults are incredible role models for other players in Western Michigan. The winners of the $1,000 D. Scott Frew Scholarships are:

 

  • Anna Dinsmore from Portage Central High School
  • Isaac Postema from Grand Haven High School

Karie Schlukebir-Pennock Award Winner

The Karie Schlukebir-Pennock Award winner for 2023 was also chosen by the Awards Committee in March. Another outstanding group of applicants was submitted with the winner being Colson Wells from Okemos. He plans to attend and play on the team at the University of Nebraska.

Upcoming Tournaments

District Team Cup: June 16-18

Western Michigan is once again looking for our best players to compete against the other districts in the Midwest! This year the 18s is co-ed like the 12s and 14s. The deadline is May 21.  You must register in order to be selected and participate.  


Junior Team Tennis

Junior Team Tennis's winter seasons finished in March at Ferris State and Hope College. Ferris State had 48 participants in its first year and Hope had more than 200 for at least the seventh year in a row! Below are the links to the leagues.

Two upcoming Junior Team Tennis programs include the Mid-Michigan Middle School League with more than 10 schools involved starting in April and the Junior Team Tennis District Championships in June. Here is the link for the JTT Championships on June 30.


Adult Tournaments

The Irish Open just finished with almost 200 players competing over St. Patrick’s Day Weekend at West Hills.
