40 & Over Mixed Champions

Four more champions were crowned in the final League Section Championship event of the season. The matches were played at Case Tennis Center at LaFortune Park in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

 

The champions and the home district are as follows:

 

6.0 Mixed: Oklahoma (David Schmidt)

7.0 Mixed: Nebraska (Carvie Erwin)

8.0 Mixed: Iowa (Cindy Rovner)

9.0 Mixed: Oklahoma (Michael Pearson)

 

Winning teams from this weekend’s event will receive the title of USTA Missouri Valley Section Champions and advance to the USTA League Tennis Championships in Mobile, Alabama. This year, League Tennis Championships will have a colorful aspect as each section has been assigned a color to represent them at the events. This year, USTA Missouri Valley will be represented by pink.

 

The teams this weekend, which represent various clubs, parks, recreational departments and organizations, finished at the top of their local leagues and the winning teams will represent the USTA Missouri Valley at the USTA League National Championships. Over 300 players participated in the event over the weekend.

 

USTA League Tennis is a competitive, team-based match play format designed for all players 18 and older and of all skill level. Teams are generally made up of approximately eight players, depending on the division played and all matches are played against those of a similar skill level.
