2024 National Tennis Month Proclamations



Throughout the USTA Missouri Valley, proclamations have been made at the city, county and state levels declaring May as National Tennis Month. Below you can find a running list of all the proclamations issued so far this year.

May 4, 2024: Rolla, Missouri

The city of Rolla, Missouri issued a proclamation of National Tennis Month. It was collected by Floyd Jernigan, City of Rolla Parks & Recreation Director. Click here to view the proclamation.

May 6, 2024: Prairie Village, Kansas

USTA Heart of America Executive Director Rebecca Falkner Axelrod received a National Tennis Month proclamation at city hall in Prairie Village, Kansas. Click here to view the proclamation.

May 6, 2024: East St. Louis, Illinois

The city of East St. Louis presented its declaration of National Tennis Month at Dunbar Elementary School. It was read by East St. Louis City Manager Robert Betts. Click here to view the proclamation.

May 8, 2024: Wichita, Kansas

The county of Sedgwick issued a National Tennis Month proclamation.

May 10, 2024: Springfield, Missouri

At the Family Tennis Night/Junior Circuit event held at the Cooper Tennis Complex, the Springfield Mayor Pro Tem, Matthew Simpson, read the National Tennis Month proclamation from the city. Click here to view this proclamation.

May 11, 2024: State of Kansas

Rebecca Falkner Axelrod presented the Kansas state proclamation of National Tennis Month before the L4 Heartland Wheelchair Tournament on Saturday, May 11. Click here to view the proclamation.

May 13, 2024: Gladstone, Missouri

May 16, 2024: State of Iowa

Governor Kim Reynolds issued a proclamation about National Tennis Month on May 16. Click here to view the proclamation.

May 19, 2024: Kansas City, Missouri

Rebecca Falkner Axelrod presented the Kansas City, Missouri National Tennis Month proclamation at the Plaza Tennis Center's National Hit To Be Fit Day event.

May 20, 2024: State of Nebraska

Jim Pillen, Nebraska governor, signed a proclamation in the Nebraska State Capitol’s Warner Chamber on May 20 that declared May as National Tennis Month in the state. USTA Missouri Valley Executive Director Mary Buschmann spoke at the proclamation signing. To view the proclamation, click here.

May 20, 2024: City of Overland Park

On May 20, Overland Park, Kansas issued a proclamation announcing May as National Tennis Month. To view the proclamation, click here.

May 31, 2024: State of Kansas

Kansas Gov. Laura Kelly and Mayor of the City of Maize Pat Stivers joined representatives from the USTA Missouri Valley to proclaim May as National Tennis Month in the state of Kansas. The proclamation was declared during a May 31 kickoff event for the 2024 Special Olympics Kansas State Summer Games held at Maize High School. You can read more about the event here.
