After all the turkey is consumed, and amidst the madness of Black Friday, the country’s best  boys tennis players will be descending upon Overland Park Racquet Club this week for the USTA Boys’ 18 National Indoor Championships.

The field features 64 of the best 18 & under tennis players in the United States. Five players from the USTA Missouri Valley are in the field, including No. 3 seed Carson Haskins, No. 9 seed Mason Meier and No. 10 seed Bradley Frye. William Gleason and Carson Gates round out the local players in the tournament. The coveted USTA Gold Ball will be up for grabs at the event.

“Overland Park Racquet Club, KC United Tennis Academy and USTA Heart of America are really looking forward to hosting this USTA Boys' 18 Indoor National Championship in Kansas City this weekend. ADVERTISEMENT This event was last held by USTA in 1999, and we are proud that we were asked to host this revived event,” said tournament director Scott Hanover. “The tennis will be amazing”

Matches begin Friday at 8 a.m. with the first and second rounds being played on the tournament’s first day. Round of 16 and quarterfinal matches will take place Saturday beginning at 9:30 a.m. Semifinals will begin at 11 a.m. on Sunday with the final scheduled for 9 a.m. on Monday.
