Message from USTA Heart of America President
Hello USTA Heart of America Tennis Players -
We are sure each and every one of you is anxious to get back on the courts. And we believe all of you are thinking about what is happening in USTA tennis. Firstly, we want to thank each and every one of you for your patience while we have all been #alonetogether through this crazy isolation of the COVID-19. We are getting news every few days regarding updates on COVID-19 and when we can be back on the courts.
Since our latest update, we have learned that play will start back up again hopefully on June 1. We are still at the mercy of the USTA and things can always change. However, with this news, we are now able to start looking at our league play, tournaments (both Adults and Juniors), Junior Team Tennis, our community projects and what is the best way to return to the courts.
Regarding USTA Leagues, the USTA Heart of America Adult Council is working hard to find the most advantageous schedule to not only complete existing leagues but the best plans for the remaining 2020 leagues. As USTA League Nationals have been cancelled for 2020, we are now considering whether there will be a USTA Missouri Valley Section Championship and if teams will want to participate. We welcome your input.
Adult and Junior tournaments will also begin again as of June 1 (if the USTA adheres to this date nationally). Junior Team Tennis will have a summer schedule, and the coordinator is currently working with area clubs to develop the schedule; however, a 2020 National Championship for Junior Team Tennis has also been cancelled.
Again, thank you all for being patient. We will keep you posted with everything that is going on. If you have questions, do not hesitate to contact us at the USTA Heart of America district office by emailing hoatennis.usta@gmail.com. We appreciate everything you bring to this amazing sport of tennis.
Thank you and stay healthy and safe!
Deborah Fabrizius
