Stonewall Sports Kicks Off Tennis League During Pride Month

Sydney Hamilton | June 05, 2023

June is Pride Month, and here at USTA Heart of America, we want to amplify programs in our district that work to advance participation of members of the LGBTQIA+ community and its allies in the sport of tennis.

We’re excited to share with you that Stonewall Sports Kansas City, a chapter of Stonewall Sports, is kicking off a tennis league this month at the Plaza Tennis Center in Kansas City! The new league welcomes players ages 21+ of all skill levels to hit the courts and grow their tennis knowledge and skills (registration is now closed due to program popularity!). Racquets and tennis balls will be provided!

The league will function as half drills and half open play, and will not be a competitive league. The drills will be led by Genesis Health Club pros from 6-7 p.m. and 7-8 p.m. each day, followed by open play starting at 8:30 p.m. At the end of the season, participants will play in a tournament and showcase their new or improved tennis skills.
