USTA Heart of America executive director hosts adaptive tennis workshop at RayPec School District

USTA Heart of America Executive Director Rebecca Falkner Axelrod helped lead an adaptive tennis workshop for students in the Raymore-Peculiar School District in Peculiar, Mo., a suburb south of Kansas City, on March 11.

During the workshop, Falkner Axelrod showcased adaptive tennis skills to help inspire the students who otherwise might not be exposed to the sport of tennis.

“It’s important to offer training like this because we are all about developing and promoting the game of tennis as well as growing it,” Falkner Axelrod said. “So being able to do tennis in the school system—where tennis may not be offered previously—it’s just introducing more students to the game. ... It was also cool to see PE teachers ask about adaptive and wheelchair (tennis), and how they can meet their students' needs."
