Wheelchair Tennis is growing quickly, with an increasing number of wheelchair athletes taking to the court. Played the same way as able-bodied tennis, the only exception being a wheelchair tennis player is allowed two bounces of the ball. Central/Western Iowa and Eastern Iowa will each be holding 6 lessons this spring, coached by certified tennis professionals.

We reached out to Nicole Berger, tennis professional at Lifetime Athletic asking about her experience in making a difference in the USTA wheelchair program.

“I have been a wheelchair tennis USPTA Certified Coach for over 10 years, volunteering my time and supplies to World Access Project, World Access Project supplies used, and refurbished mobility equipment to people with disabilities throughout Mexico,” she said. “I have traveled to Mexico to help put on wheelchair tennis camps with World Access Project in the past and am excited to bring my experience to better serve Central/Western Iowa."
