USTA Iowa District League Champions Crowned
The USTA Iowa League Championships are complete and district champions have been crowned. The winners of the district tournament will move on to the USTA Missouri Valley section championships for a chance to go to Nationals.
There were two weekends of competition. The first event was held in Waterloo, Iowa, June 9-11. The second was held in Iowa City, Iowa, June 23-25.
First Weekend Champions:
• 3.0 Women (Karen Sissel and Kayla Peterson, captains)
• 4.0 18 & Over Men (Darren Bullard, captain)
• 4.0 18 & Over Women (Julie Bruntz and Mary Krause, captains)
• 40 & Over 3.5 Women (Nina Pack and Cathy Nelson, captains)
• 55+ 8.0 Men (Chris Bryant, captain),
• 18 & Over 7.0 Mixed Doubles (Tim Carstensen, captain)
• 40 & Over 8.0 Mixed Doubles (Heather Sundermann, captain)
Second Weekend Champions:
• 18 & Over 8.0 mixed doubles (Justin Despotovich, captains)
• 18 & Over 3.5 Women (Cindy Rovner, captain)
• 40 & Over 7.0 Mixed Doubles (Pat Willett, captain)
• 40 & Over 4.0 Men (Chris Mayer & Joe McAdams, captains)
• 40 & Over 4.0 Women (Laura Wolf & Chris Amelon, captains)
• 18 & Over 3.5 Men (Neil Schmitz, captain)
League play begins at the national level and encourages community play.
