Jim Huneke Earns Gold Star
In honor of our 100th anniversary in 2020, the USTA Missouri Valley is recognizing 100 deserving tennis providers, players, partners and more each month.
Selected nominees will be given a Gold Star award, recognizing them for the contributions they are making to support and grow the game in the USTA Missouri Valley based on specific program areas and attributes.
USTA Iowa is proud to announce that one of the September honorees is Jim Huneke, who is the Tennis Director of Ames Fitness Center and an active contributor to growing the game of tennis in Iowa.
Hukeke has worked in the tennis industry for decades and has coached tennis at every level, from grassroots, to junior high performance and the college level.
Ames Fitness Center is a premier private fitness and tennis club, offering year-round junior and adult tennis programming. Huneke serves players of all levels, from beginner, social, or high-performance.
“Tennis is what our club was founded for and it continues to play a major role in the success of the business, “ Huneke said.
Huneke doesn’t only offer private programming, though. Huneke and Ames Fitness Center are committed to providing tennis opportunities through the public by offering USTA programming, UTR events, Special Olympics, and park and recreation programs to the community of Ames.
Ames Fitness Center just underwent a large renovation, and Huneke has big goals for the facility. He aims to use their new resources to continue growing tennis locally through their new facility as they further give back to the community and offer even more opportunities to play.
Huneke continues to fortify a strong relationship with the USTA Missouri Valley to continue growing the game locally.
“They have provided us with invaluable grants,” Huneke said. “They help us promote our activities and are a wonderful partner in our success!”
Gold Star Award recipients will receive personal items to keep, a plaque and a special gift. Congratulations to all who the USTA Missouri Valley has chosen for the Gold Star Award.
