Based on USTA Iowa’s 2024 Strategic Plan, organized tennis continues to grow throughout the state based on growth, participation, and the increasing number of Community Tennis Organizations (CTA’s).

Growth in each area more than doubled last year, the number of CTA’s participating in grants, training and conferences went from 13 to 20, and more CTA’s took part in educational opportunities than in years past.

“Twenty CTA’s participated in the Pathway Grant for a total of $6,700 (up from 13 in 2022), eight  CTAs attended the CTA summit in Cedar Rapids (up from 5) and finally seven CTAs participated in the Summer Fun Extravaganza Contest for a total of $5,000,” said John Terpkosh, USTA Iowa Tennis Service Representative.

Terpkosh added there are two new grant opportunities for 2024 for CTA’s to take advantage of.

CTA Grant A: Community Call & Awareness - USTA Iowa will help educate the local community about CTA’s in order to recruit members, players and volunteers. Up to $300 can be requested to assist with local community meetings including refreshments, flyers, room rental and more.

CTA Grant B: CTA Board Growth - USTA Iowa would like to recruit younger board members (under 53 years old) who must make a two-year commitment. CTA’s can earn $300 for one new member and $500 for two or more members. Members must be added by August 1, 2024.
