Junior Team Tennis Section Championships a Success

The 2021 USTA Missouri Valley Junior Team Tennis Section Championships were a rousing success July 20-22 at Case Tennis Center at Lafortune Park in Tulsa, Oklahoma. 

 

 

 

Tulsa welcomed teams from USTA Kansas, USTA Oklahoma and USTA St. Louis for 12U, 14U and 18U competition. A total of 15 teams and 106 players descended upon Case Tennis Center for a shot at a championship.

But even more important was the fun atmosphere of the championships - the camaraderie of the teams cheering each other to victory, being a good sport and enjoying the event.

 

 

 

Sportsmanship Awards were given to individuals who exemplified what it means to be a good teammate and opponent.  At the completion of each team match, each coach nominated one boy and one girl from the opposing team in the 14U and 18U competition, as well as one player (gender neutral) in the 12U division as their sportsmanship selection. Congratulations to the sportsmanship award selections:

 

18U Intermediate

Boy: Landon Wong (RH-91 - Tulsa) 

Girl: Reece Compton (OKC Elite - Oklahoma City)

 

 

14U Intermediate

Boys: Evan Boyer (Earlywine - Oklahoma City) 

Adam Everett (Acers - Kansas)

Girls: Tokara Henderson (BCCTA Bobcats - Oklahoma City) 

Tiana Braxton (Earlywine - Oklahoma City)

 

 

12U Green Intermediate

Gender Neutral Teams:

George Keske (Missouri Athletic Club - St. Louis) 

Grace Leitner (Creve Coeur Racquet Club - St. Louis)

 

 

In addition to a sportsmanship award, the Spirit Award was given to teams who showed dedication to being great sports and teammates. The 18U Spirit Award winner is RH-91 of Tulsa. The 14U Spirit Award went to Britton Christian Church Tennis Academy of Oklahoma City. 

 

 

Huge congratulations to all players who took part and made the event a huge success!
