Junior Tennis Camp Scholarship Recipient
Each year, USTA Missouri Valley is proud to award several scholarships to local junior players to aid them in attending a tennis summer camp. USTA Missouri Valley will be providing 13 scholarships for the summer of 2020.
Players will need to submit their application and a short essay explaining why tennis is important in their life and what they hope to gain from attending a summer camp. The application deadline is April 15 at 11:59 p.m.
Charlie Foss, a local Kansas winner of a 2019 Junior Tennis Camp Scholarship, said that experiencing a tennis summer camp was an enjoyable challenge.
“The coaches were super helpful and enthusiastic about what they did,” Foss said. “You were also playing with a bunch of new people which was a different experience. They challenged you a lot and it made me feel like I was getting better every day.”
Foss has been playing tennis for 13 years. He says the thing that keeps him motivated is simply his passion for the game.
“I genuinely love doing it. I have a bunch of friends playing and that makes it fun,” Foss said. “It keeps me in shape, too, but I really love playing and that’s the main reason I keep going.”
Foss is a graduating high school senior and plans to attend Kansas State University in the fall of 2020.
