USTA Kansas District League Championships

Kendra Wicks | July 29, 2019

USTA Kansas District League Championships are happening all over the state this fall as the teams compete for their shot at sectionals.

The 18 & Over 3.5 Women’s event was held at Crestview Country Club on July 14. Two teams competed for a chance to continue to sectionals. Kathy Bagwell and Linda Jones led their players in a close duel. Jones, captain of the KS: Pushyk team, won the championship but did not have enough players to qualify them for sectionals, allowing Bagwell’s team to take their place. The upcoming Section Championships will be hosted in St. Louis, August 8-11, and will give those teams a shot at nationals.

The 18 & Over Mixed Doubles 7.0 District Championship is coming up August 4 in Emporia, Kansas. The winners there will move on to sectionals in Omaha, Nebraska, September 12-15.

There are more than 24,000 League players from USTA Missouri Valley every year. Players range in age and ability, so there’s always a team for you play singles, doubles or mixed.

It’s not too late to get involved in a fall league! Make sure you check out your options for growing your game through a league near you.
