USTA Missouri Valley Eight More Champions Earn Trips to Nationals
After a soggy Friday in Oklahoma City at the first League Section Championship, Saturday and Sunday provided a perfect backdrop for eight teams to earn trips to USTA League National Championships. The weekend included over 400 matches.
The champions and the home district are as follows:
18+ 2.5 Women St. Louis (Britney Coffey)
18+ 3.5 Women: Kansas (Shawna Geist)
18+ 4.5 Women: Oklahoma (Laura Grooms)
55+ 6.0 Women: Oklahoma (Michelle Bryan)
55+ 8.0 Women: Oklahoma (Susie Hurst)
18+ 3.5 Men: St. Louis (Dustin Imgarten)
18+ 4.5 Men: Kansas (Chad Unrein)
55+ 8.0 Men: Kansas (Jim Bauersfeld)

Winning teams from this weekend’s event will receive the title of USTA Missouri Valley Section Champions and advance to the USTA League Tennis Championships in Arizona and Florida.
The teams, which represent various clubs, parks, recreational departments and organizations, have finished at the top of their local leagues and the winning teams will represent the USTA Missouri Valley at the USTA League National Championships. Over 600 players participated in the event over the weekend.
USTA League Tennis is a competitive, team-based match play format designed for all players 18 and older and of all skill level. Teams are generally made up of approximately eight players, depending on the division played and all matches are played against those of a similar skill level.
Five more League Section Championships are scheduled over the next few months. League Section Championships will also be hosted in Topeka, Omaha, St. Louis and Springfield.
