L5 Junior Tournament Coming to Camdenton
USTA Missouri is hosting its first Level 5 Junior Open tournament in Camdenton. The L5 junior event will take place the weekend of May 21-23 at Camdenton High School and Camdenton City Park.
With last year’s tournament being canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2021 offering will be the first-ever L5 open tourney hosted in Camdenton in USTA Missouri history.
“We’re just adding a new location for play in our district — especially at a higher level — which is exciting,” said Courtney Nesbitt, USTA Missouri junior and adult competition coordinator.
Registration is now open for this event, and the deadline to sign up is May 17.
Nesbitt said registration is going well, and some parents plus players are pairing up the tennis tournament with a weekend vacation to the nearby Lake of the Ozarks.
“There are parents who are super excited to come here because they are just going to turn it into a vacation and stay a couple of days after the tournament,” Nesbitt said. “In our district, I would say the Lake of the Ozarks and Branson are the two biggest tourist attractions. It’s different to be able to turn a tournament into a vacation in our section.”
The Level 5 open features singles and doubles draws for both boys and girls ages 12 to 18.
