Is your young athlete looking for a fun way to sharpen their skills this spring? Check out Junior Team Tennis.

USTA Missouri will open its Junior Team Tennis season in March and wrap up competition in May.

“Junior Team Tennis is a fun, low-pressure team atmosphere,” said USTA Missouri Junior Competition Coordinator Courtney Nesbitt. “It’s a great way to get high school girls playing on their off-season and it teaches the younger kids to play as a team.”

The league is open to USTA Missouri yellow ball players. This Junior Team Tennis season is perfect for high school girls, but is open to anyone 13-and-over.

Teams are divided into two areas: Springfield/Joplin and Columbia/Jefferson City. The southwest Missouri teams will play matches March 29 and April 5. April 5 and April 19 are the Columbia/Jefferson City match dates. Both areas have a rain makeup day slated for May 3. Matches will be played in multiple locations. That information will be given out after teams are formed.

The two areas will come together for the USTA Missouri Junior Team Tennis Tournament on May 17 in Camdenton.

“Teams need a minimum of four players and need a provider to be in charge of the team and/or coach the team,” Nesbitt said. “Players can reach out to me to help them find a team. The provider needs to contact me to get set up with a team number and go through SafeSport.”

The registration deadline is March 22. For more information, contact Nesbitt at courtneytime2grow@outlook.com.
