USTA Missouri Valley
the US Open
USTA Missouri Valley | August 29, 2017
Welcome to our US Open/USTA Semiannual meeting blog! Over the next few days, members of the USTA Missouri Valley staff as well as volunteers will head to New York for the USTA's semiannual meeting held in conjunction with the US Open. The semiannual meeting is where we hear about some of the USTA's big upcoming iniatitives, and is also an opportunity for national committees to meet.
We also get a chance to catch up with some touring pros from the USTA Missouri Valley. Unfortunately, Jack Sock was knocked out Monday evening but Madison Keys, a native of Moline, Ill., will be first up on Arthur Ashe Stadium Tuesday evening. We also have former Oklahoma player, Spencer Papa in the main draw of the men's doubles, and a few players who will play in the Juniors event later this week. Follow along, as we provide updates all week!
Sept. 6: Keys still alive
Tonight, Madison Keys will look to earn a spot in the US Open semifinals, with the opportunity to possibly play Coco Vandeweghe on Thursday. Keys has had some great moments already in Arthur Ashe Stadium during this US Open and we can only hope she's got a few more in her this evening.
We were able to catch up with several other familiar faces during our time on the grounds. Omaha, Nebraska native Jackson Withrow played doubles in the main draw, as did Spencer Papa of Edmond, Oklahoma.
Victoria Flores of Fort Dodge, Iowa competed in the US Open Junior Girls draw, but unfortunately, was eliminated after a tough three-set match in the first round.
