USTA Missouri Valley    Four Mixed Doubles Teams Win Titles

This past weekend, the USTA Missouri Valley League Section Championships got a bit "mixed" up, with the 18 & Over Mixed divisions heading to Kossover Tennis Center in Topeka. The competition in this past weekend's USTA Missouri Valley League Section Championships had nearly 200 players competing in Topeka. 

 

The champions and the home district are as follows:

 

18+ 6.0: Kansas (Mel Brown)

18+ 7.0: Nebraska (Carvie Erwin)

18+ 8.0: Heart of America (Jan Claussen)

18+ 9.0: Kansas (Laurie Mercer)

Winning teams from this weekend’s event will receive the title of USTA Missouri Valley Section Champions and advance to the USTA League Tennis Championships in Mobile, Alabama.

 

The teams, which represent various clubs, parks, recreational departments and organizations, have finished at the top of their local leagues and the winning teams will represent the USTA Missouri Valley at the USTA League National Championships.

 

USTA League Tennis is a competitive, team-based match play format designed for all players 18 and older and of all skill level. Teams are generally made up of approximately eight players, depending on the division played and all matches are played against those of a similar skill level.

 

The final League Section Championship will be held this upcoming weekend in Springfield, Missouri.
