2020 USTA Nebraska District Championships

Andrea Gallagher | September 30, 2020

On September 19-20, 2020, teams from Nebraska battled it out at the USTA Nebraska District Championships. Matches were held at the Koch Tennis Center in Omaha. Women’s 18-over league playoffs were held in three divisions: 3.0, 3.5 and 4.0.

Men’s divisions did not have a district playoff because there were no Omaha men’s leagues this summer. However, 40-over men were able to play a round-robin tournament to make up for missed matches during the suspension of play during the COVID-19 outbreak.

Lincoln teams swept in all but one division.

Winners were as follows:

The Tegler/Brinkman team from Lincoln won all three matches in the Women’s 4.0 division; the Carmine/Patrick team from Lincoln won all three matches in the Women’s 3.5 division; and the Cooter team out of Omaha won the Women’s 3.0 division. The Green/Dean team out of Lincoln won all three matches in the 40-over 4.0 men’s playoff.

There will be no sectionals or nationals this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We’re looking forward to a great 2021 season!
