Hanscom Indoor Tennis Center upgrades benefit Creighton, community

Andrea Gallagher | January 16, 2026

With many new recent improvements, the Hanscom Indoor Tennis Center in Omaha now looks and feels like the home courts for the Creighton University men’s and women’s tennis teams.

“From Creighton’s point of view, the most exciting aspect of the renovation is the improved quality of our day-to-day operations at Hanscom,” said Gerhard Posch, men’s tennis head coach at Creighton. “It elevates the program from an operational and recruiting standpoint.”

Included in the improvements are repainted courts and walls as well as new court curtains. The refurbished lobby has Creighton-themed leather couches, new lockers, Creighton graphics, a trophy display and a Creighton Tennis Legends wall that honors past standouts and showcases the current roster.

Playsight also was installed, which is a streaming and analytics platform that allows Creighton to stream home matches on the athletics website.

“The idea is to improve our training and match facility for a better student-athlete experience and make Creighton a more attractive recruiting ground for our prospective student-athletes,” Posch said.

The coach said the Creighton teams are thankful to the City of Omaha, which owns the facility and allowed these changes to take place. However, Posch said the improvements greatly benefit the general tennis-playing public at Hanscom, too, not just Creighton. USTA Nebraska 40 & Over league teams from across the state compete at Hanscom.

“The feedback we’ve received from the Hanscom patronage has been overwhelmingly positive,” Posch said.

The Creighton men’s tennis team plays its first home match at Hanscom on Jan. 30 against Air Force.

“It’s free, and we provide complimentary water and pizza for all tennis enthusiasts who are interested in watching a great college match that day,” Posch said.

The Creighton women’s tennis team plays its first home match against Gustavus Adolphus College on Feb. 8.
