Happy Holidays from John Rademacher, USTA Nebraska President
“I come from a family of tennis players and I loved the sport growing up. One of my fondest memories is hitting against the "wall.” I grew up one half-mile away (a 3 minute bike ride) from a park with tennis courts with a giant concrete wall. I spent hours improving my tennis game banging tennis balls against that wall as I wanted to be able to compete against my three older siblings who all played college tennis. I went on to play high school tennis under legendary coach Les Livingston. I also played one year of college tennis.
As an adult, I’ve been active in the local tennis community including serving as President of the Kearney Tennis Association. Recently I spearheaded a committee that helped make a new and much-needed indoor tennis facility in Kearney a reality. Tennis continues to be a family affair as my two sons had outstanding high school tennis careers and continue to play the sport in college. I have extended family playing and participating in tennis activities across the state: high school/USTA tournaments, college, adult leagues and officiating. This past summer my wife and two sons had the experience of a lifetime as we were able to attend Wimbledon. The tennis was fantastic and the strawberries and cream lived up to the hype! The experience increased our love of the game even more.
As President of USTA Nebraska, I am excited to promote the sport of tennis and to help provide opportunities for all to play!”
