Play Tennis Lincoln Day takes place May 19

Andrea Gallagher | May 03, 2024

For the second year in a row, the Lincoln Tennis Association is putting on Play Tennis Lincoln Day at Woods Tennis Center on Sunday, May 19, from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. The event is free to attend and open to anyone aged seven and up who wants to give tennis a try.

“The purpose of Play Tennis Lincoln is to get tennis racquets in the hands of tennis players who are new to tennis or players coming out of a hiatus,” said Shalla Powell-Mandigo, Lincoln Tennis Association president. “And teach them some of the basics of the game by local, professional tennis instructors. Our goal is to grow the sport of tennis, and Play Tennis Lincoln is one way the Lincoln Tennis Association helps achieve that goal.”

Participants will run through drills and instruction while music is playing in the background. Each participant will receive a free T-shirt. The first 40 kids and first 40 adults who show up for the event without a tennis racquet will receive a free racquet.
