USTA League Updates and Safety Guidelines
With USTA leagues in Nebraska officially underway this summer, there have been changes as it relates to the COVID-19 pandemic. The district plans on hosting a district championship in Omaha, but there will be no section championship tournament this year. Additionally, 18 & Over adult and mixed league matches will not be included in the year-end NTRP ratings this year.
Many teams have followed certain guidelines when playing to maintain health and safety issues regarding COVID-19. Players are encouraged to have fun, but to follow guidelines at the same times. Recommendations include:
· Do not arrive at courts more than 15 minutes before your match.
· Wash or sanitize your hands before, during and after play.
· If possible, pay ahead of time over the phone, to limit people in clubhouses.
· Leave the middle court open so people are spread out.
· When other balls come onto the court, kick them back or use your racquet.
· Do not congregate in groups before or after matches.
· Do not shake hands or high-five after matches.
· Avoid touching your face after handling a ball.
· Use only your own towels and water bottles.
· Wipe down your equipment including water bottles and racquets.
· Stay on one side of the court until all players are ready to switch.
· If watching, consider bringing your own chair instead of using shared benches.
· Always maintain a safe distance from other players.
