USTA Nebraska 40 & Over Leagues Underway

Andrea Gallagher | January 26, 2021

A number of 40 & Over leagues are currently underway in Nebraska, including 3.0 and 4.0 Women, 3.5 Men, and 8.0 Mixed. Other divisions will begin at the end of February, including 3.5 Women, 4.0 Men, 4.5 Women and Men and 7.0 and 9.0 Mixed.

The majority of the leagues are local and will host a district championship in May, with the exception of the 4.5 men and women and 9.0 mixed, which are all-state leagues. The USTA Nebraska 40 & Over Adult Championships will be May 15-16 at Koch Tennis Center, and 40 & Over Mixed Championships will be May 22-23 at Woods Tennis Center.

For players that would like to join but don’t currently have a USTA team, or are new to the USTA, league coordinator Kay Merkel said there is now a new option.

“They will be able to sign up directly onto any open team or they can sign up as ‘Seeking a Team,’” Merkel said. “When a player signs up as ‘Seeking a Team’, a captain that has opted in to ‘Seeking New Players’ will receive an email with the player’s contact information, NTRP Rating, and a note from that player.”

Players can also contact Merkel directly and she will get the player’s information to the captains in that particular league: kmerkel@ymail.com
