Center Twisters Classic in Tulsa showcases skill, spirit of wheelchair tennis
The second annual Center Twisters Wheelchair Tennis Classic returns to Tulsa on April 18, bringing competitive spirit, community pride and inspiring athleticism to the courts at Case Tennis Center at LaFortune Park, a USTA Premier Facility.
Play begins at 9 a.m., with athletes traveling from across the USTA Missouri Valley and neighboring states to compete in one of the region’s growing wheelchair tennis events.
The Level 5 tournament is part of the celebration of 50 years of wheelchair tennis happening throughout 2026. The milestone year honors the passion and progress that define wheelchair tennis and the inspiring stories that continue to move the sport forward.
Tournament organizer and standout wheelchair tennis player Anthony Meadows said this year’s event also builds on the foundation laid during the inaugural 2025 tournament—with a renewed focus on accessibility and competition.
“Our goals for the 2026 Center Twisters wheelchair tennis tournament are to showcase novice and more competitive wheelchair players from the Missouri Valley and surrounding states, such as Texas,” Meadows said. “We want to make the Tulsa tournament accessible and drivable without great expense.”
While the first tournament successfully introduced the event to the region, Meadows said this year’s emphasis is on growth—both in participation and competitive depth—while keeping the tournament affordable and welcoming. Beyond the competition, Meadows hopes the tournament continues to make a meaningful impact in the broader Tulsa community.
“The impact I hope to have is exposure—that wheelchair tennis players are competitive tennis players,” he said. “We eat and breathe tennis like everyone else.”

Meadows also hopes families will attend, particularly those with children who have physical disabilities. All spectators are welcome to support the athletes and watch the skill and passion of wheelchair tennis.
Meadows envisions the tournament growing into a higher-level, multi-day competition that attracts even more athletes, especially youth players.
“Each year, we want to bring more and more wheelchair athletes to Tulsa,” he said.
