Celebrating National Park and Recreation Month: Spotlight on Earlywine Tennis Center

Casey McKenzie | July 02, 2024

July has been designated as Park and Recreation Month in the U.S. by the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA). The USTA and NRPA announced a partnership to support healthier communities, which is in line with the USTA’s recently adopted mission statement. To celebrate this collaboration and Park and Recreation Month, USTA Oklahoma is featuring Earlywine Tennis Center.

July marks National Park and Recreation Month, a time to appreciate the recreational spaces that bring communities together. Within USTA Oklahoma one standout facility is the Earlywine Tennis Center, a hub for tennis enthusiasts and a gem within the Oklahoma City Parks and Recreation Department.

Nestled within the expansive 99-acre Earlywine Park, Earlywine Tennis Center features 12 outdoor lighted courts to make it a perfect destination for tennis enthusiasts of all ages and skill levels.

The Earlywine Tennis Center pro shop overlooks the courts. The pro shop features an air-conditioned reception and snack area with a flat-screen TV and locker rooms with showers. Tennis accessories as well as racquet stringing/gripping services are also available from the USRSA-certified stringer. A wide variety of snacks and drinks are available for purchase.

Earlywine Tennis Center offers several programs designed to cater to both juniors and adults. The center’s offerings include summer camps, after-school clinics, Cardio Tennis, QuickStart Tennis, private and group lessons, tournaments and leagues. These programs aim to foster a love for tennis and promote physical fitness within the community.

In 2007, Earlywine Tennis Center was honored as the USTA Oklahoma Tennis Facility of the Year. That same year, the facility underwent significant renovations to its clubhouse, further enhancing its appeal and functionality.

At the heart of Earlywine Tennis Center’s success is Randy Painton, the director of tennis since February 2010. With more than 25 years of experience in the tennis industry, Painton is a certified USPTA Elite Professional who previously instructed at the Oklahoma City Golf and Country Club for 14 years.

Randy Painton has served as Earlywine Tennis Center director since 2010.

Painton’s commitment to the tennis community is evident through his various roles, including head boys’ and girls’ tennis coach at Westmoore High School since 2017 and the Junior Team Tennis coordinator for Oklahoma City since 2012.

Painton has been instrumental in restarting middle school tennis for Moore Public Schools and has received numerous accolades.

This National Park and Recreation Month, we invite you to explore all that Earlywine Tennis Center has to offer. Whether you are a seasoned player or a beginner, Earlywine Tennis Center provides a welcoming environment and top-notch facilities to enhance your tennis experience.
