First Serve Tulsa to Launch With Free Tennis Camp

February 24, 2021

A NJTL (National Junior Tennis & Learning) program is making its way to Tulsa, with the goal of doing a lot more than just improving performance on the court. First Serve Tulsa will make its debut at LaFortune Tennis Center March 15-18 with a free tennis camp for 4th and 5th graders.  The mission of First Serve Tulsa is to create rising stars through tennis and education.

In addition to the March tennis camp at LaFortune Tennis Center, First Serve Tulsa hopes to add additional tennis camps this summer and launch an after-school program in the fall of 2021.

If you are interested in registering for the First Serve Tulsa tennis camp March 15 – 18, you can do so by emailing FirstServeTulsa@gmail.com. The free camp is for students currently enrolled in 4th or 5th grade classes and will be held from 1:30pm to 3:00pm each day.

Another NJTL program, created in 2014, is First Serve OKC.  This program is now engaging with more than 1,400 students each year as part of their on-site Serving Up Aces program at schools and community centers and recently added 15 Orange Ball players to their After-School Program which now offers 50 scholarships annually to young tennis players. Scholarship recipients meet at the Oklahoma City Tennis Center twice a week for tutoring and tennis instruction, with tournaments played on the weekends.

“The most important thing to me is the impact that we have on each student in the program”, says First Serve OKC Executive Director, Emmy Tigert. “If they are willing to give First Serve OKC a shot, the benefits will go far beyond the tennis court and give them the tools to help in many different areas of their life.” You can also learn more about the outstanding First Serve OKC program by going to https::firstserveokc.org.
