Junior Team Tennis District Champions Crowned
The top junior tennis teams in Oklahoma have secured a spot in the upcoming Missouri Valley Junior Team Tennis Section Championships. They advanced after some hard-fought competition July 7-8 at the new Edmond Center Court tennis facility.
Over 1,500 games and 240 matches were played to decide the 2021 USTA Oklahoma Junior Team Tennis (JTT) District winners. The top two teams from Tulsa and the top two teams from OKC were invited to participate, with players ranging in age from 8 to 18 years old. The winning teams will now compete against the winners from the other six Missouri Valley districts during the USTA Missouri Valley Section Championships July 20-22 at Lafortune Tennis Center In Tulsa.
Junior Team Tennis (JTT) is the flagship junior program of the USTA that combines level-based competition with the fun and camaraderie of playing on a team. The District tournament at Edmond Center Court not only featured great tennis, but a great atmosphere as well. Players enjoyed the facility’s many amenities, as well as corn hole games, Kona Ice, Bondi Bowls and free lunch for players and coaches.
Please contact your local facility or Casey McKenzie mckenzie@ustaoklahoma.com if you’re interested in participating in Fall Junior Team Tennis starting in September!
