Mullican Named Tennis Channel Topspin Top 50 Coaches

Emmy Tigert | March 31, 2021

Congratulations to First Serve OKC's own -  Coach Tony Mullican! He was chosen as a Top 50 Coach by Tennis Channel's Topspin.

Mullican has gone above and beyond for our students, especially during this long and difficult year, and we are so glad he is getting the recognition he deserves. Tony does more than simply teaching the fundamentals of tennis. He approaches his work through a trauma-informed, equity-centered lens, making sure First Serve players have everything they need to advocate for themselves. Those kinds of lessons last a lifetime.

Congrats again to Coach Tony for being nominated and making it to the finalist round!

“As a coach, I love helping students discover that they are capable of more than they think is possible. I believe diversity and equal access are vital to the growth and health of tennis. In 2020, I received the Missouri Valley’s Outstanding Diversity Achievement Award. At First Serve OKC, we are ensuring tennis is accessible to diverse communities across our city. Our team utilizes creative programming solutions in parks, community centers, and schools. My passion is going into the OKC community and connecting students to tennis, educational resources, and a caring adult who believes in them.”
