Two Oklahoma All-Americans Inducted Into UCO HOF

November 06, 2019

EDMOND (Nov. 2) – Two of the better tennis players in Central Oklahoma history will be forever remembered as such following their induction into the UCO Athletics Hall of Fame. Tim Ritchie and Kevin Hill were inducted as a doubles team Saturday night at the Nigh University Center.

Ritchie and Hill are two of the best tennis players Central has ever had and when the two teamed up together in the 1986-87 season, there was no doubt about their prowess on the court.

Before that season, head coach Francis Baxter, who is in the UCO Athletics Hall of Fame, said he was anticipating the 1987 men’s tennis season with “uncontrolled optimism and confidence.” It was said the lineup was filled with experience and iced with talent.

Ritchie and Hill went 17-9 that season, won the NAIA District 9 Regional Championship, and made it to the national quarterfinals. They earned All-American honors for their efforts. They also helped the Bronchos reach the national tournament and a Top 25 ranking.

Both were four-year lettermen for the Broncos and both had standout careers for the Bronze & Blue. Both also won the District 9 Singles Championship.

In 1985, Kevin was named District 9 Player of the Year. Tim is also a member of the Oklahoma Tennis Hall of Fame (Class of 2013).

Press release from UCO Assistant Athletic Director/Media Relations Chris Brannick.
