Q & A with Will Berry

September 22, 2020

An Oklahoma City youth tennis player is making a big impression on one of the biggest names in tennis coaching. 13-year-old Will Berry has caught the eye of Nick Bollettieri, and the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida.

Bollettieri was visiting First Serve OKC earlier this year when he watched Berry play and invited him, on a full scholarship, to the esteemed academy for a summer camp. Members of the Oklahoma City tennis community quickly rallied to help pay for more than $2,000 in travel expenses and off Berry went.

Will spent two weeks at IMG learning from some of the best instructors, before returning home in early August with a personal phone call and invitation from Bollettieri to return again in 2021. Berry has described the experience as a once in a life time opportunity that he will somehow get to do again.

The IMG Academy sits on a 600 acre campus and was established in 1978 by Bollettieri. It is now known as one of the most prestigious sports, performance, and educational institutions.
