Where do you play?

I play at RH91 (Racket and Health 91) in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Where are you from?

I was born and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma. I have lived here my whole life. I have been playing tennis since I was three or four but I didn’t start playing “for real” until I was nine. I started tennis at Philcrest with coach Tim Leos but when he moved to coach at Lafortune, I stopped playing for a bit. I didn’t get back into tennis until I met my coach to this day Jorgelina Cravero. I met Georgi because my mom was her doctor and I still wanted to play tennis so we tried it. I remember that for our first lesson I wifted the first three balls and then we slowed it down. We started with orange balls but I was got better pretty quickly and eventually started drills at RH where I met my best friends to this day. Tennis has been an essentially part of my personality and will be with me for the rest of my life.

Favorite tennis memory?

My favorite tennis memories have been more recently getting to play on the high school team at holland hall and bringing in two state championships as a team and in one doubles freshman year and two doubles sophomore year. I have also helped coach at RH91 with little kids playing with red balls and though sometimes it’s hard, it is really fun to see the kids grow and get better over time.

Favorite athlete?

My favorite athlete was probably Serena Williams because when someone mentioned pro tennis that’s who I thought of, but I think over the years I have grown to admire my coach as an athlete and love to watch her play in the pro-am, a tournament at our club with a pro and an amateur tennis player.

What is your pre-match ritual or pre-match meal?

Before a match I always make sure I have sunscreen on, am hydrated, and have gone to the bathroom. I also like to warm up a little by stretching or jumping rope. As for a pre match meal, I don’t really eat much before a match except maybe a granola bar, but I always get the same order from subway or jimmy johns on tournament days.

What racquet do you use?

I have used many different racquets but right now I am using a Wilson Ultra racket and have probably been using this racket for four years now. Overall I love the Wilson brand of racket.

Forehand or backhand?

My whole life I have favored my forehand, but I have an interesting relation with my backhand. My coach Georgi has an amazing backhand and I wanted to have that because most people favor their forehand. My backhand has gotten a lot better or the years and I actually played backhand freshman year at state after playing forehand all season.

Favorite sport, besides tennis?

My favorite sport besides tennis is probably ultimate frisbee because it’s really the only other sport I have played. I love the cardio aspect and it’s so fun to run around with your friends playing frisbee. It’s like football without the tackling part or the flag part. I love the team aspect and the adrenaline of scoring a goal.

Favorite food?

My favorite food is probably tacos. It’s has everything I like chicken, lettuce, cheese, chips, etc. you can’t go wrong with tacos except if you eat them before exercising.
